How is the league structured?
The A Division is intended for high school juniors and seniors while the B Division is for underclassmen. To ensure competitive balance, teams are occasionally shifted in divisions once the season begins.
Who can play?
High school boys ages 15 and 18 who ARE NOT on their high school team during the 2019 season. Any player is eligible, providing he does not participate on his high school baseball team.
How often do you play?
The YMBA regular season includes two games a week from late February until the end of the academic year in May, culminating with a postseason tournament. Teams seeking additional games can often be accommodated when field use permits.
How is the league organized?
There are three commissioners who oversee scheduling and assign umpires (from local high school and youth leagues). Each coach and player must sign a code of conduct, which is strictly enforced throughout the season.
Where do you play?
We play on fields in Trussville, Spain Park in Hoover, Heardmont Park and Vestavia Hills. We also try to schedule at least one game for each team at legendary Rickwood Field.
Do you ever expand to other locations?
We are always looking for new venues. If you have an available field, please contact our commissioners.
Where do you find teams?
Many of our teams are comprised of friends from the same school, athletes from other varsity teams or former rec league and travel baseball teams.
How do I join?
To form a team or sign up as an unattached player or email one of the commissioners listed below.
How do I learn more?
We will hold our annual coaches meeting every January at the Hoover Lake House. Email the commissioners if you have questions.
